Our role and purpose at PK-5 Tutors is to integrate our past experiences and expertise in PK-5 elementary education with the ever changing innovative learning landscape. We help students, parents, teachers, and tutors ensure that in the midst of this rapidly changing world, we focus on the student, their experiences, and their successes. Our ultimate goal is to make certain they master the fundamental building blocks that serve as the foundation for their accomplishments now and in the future. We have a clear understanding of elementary education curriculum methods and goals with extensive experience in pre kindergarten through fifth grade environments that include both public and private schools as well as Title 1 programs. One to One Tutoring - The primary purpose of one to one tutoring is to provide the undivided focus and attention needed to address specific areas where a student is struggling or wants to build upon their strengths. This is typically the most effective and efficient manner to accomplish a specific goal. Math & Reading - Our math and reading services are aligned with core standards and can include subject-based or supplemental-based content. Our subject-based approach uses the curriculum and instructional method your child is currently studying in school. Our supplemental-based approach leverages different curriculum and instructional methods to address a learning topic from a different perspective. Both approaches are aligned to compliment the school lesson plans while achieving the parent and student goals. Small Group Tutoring - The primary purpose of small groups is to create a collaborative learning environment where groups of two to four students learn something together. Unlike individual learning, students engaged in collaborative learning capitalize on one another’s shared experiences, resources, and skills. Students engage on a common subject, ask one another for information, and explore one another’s ideas. Each individuals knowledge is magnified when built upon and supported with others. Although the whole group works together on the same subject, individual attention is still given to each student to ensure they continue to progress and achieve their personal goals as well. Learning Enrichment Experiences - Enrichment experiences are refreshing and energizing ways to apply and build upon concepts and subjects that students have mastered or in process of mastering. Enrichment does not replace regular academic studies, but provides an environment to grow that might otherwise not be available. We have just opened our summer 2013 iPad Rock Star, Filmmaker, and Artist learning enrichment sessions for registration.
